Do’s and Don’ts
- DO be creative. You can do more than just paint your accent wall. You can utilize wallpaper, stencils, paneling, etc. to create your accent wall.
- DO make sure your accent wall complements the color of other walls in the room. Use the accent wall as a continuation of your decor’s color scheme, or use this project as a time to reinvent a space.
- DON’T shy away from bold colors or patterns. Find a color that fits your personality and that you will be happy within the long run. Going with a darker neutral is safe, but takes away from the fun possibilities of an accent wall.

Planning on DIY?
If you are planning to paint an accent wall yourself, we recommend products that will allow for a more professional look. We want to stress that it is essential to get professional grad tools, such as brushes and tape. Less expensive brushes and rollers can shed by leaving material behind or break. - Drop Cloth (4’x15′)

- 9″ Roller Frame
- Roller Cover 1/2 Nap
- Small Putty Knife
- Roller Pole – We recommend high-quality metal roller frames over wood. Although, if you are in a pinch or trying to stay on budget, you can use a broom handle.
- 1-Gallon Bucket – This is used to cut in, which means painting the outside of window or door frames and corners.
- Roller Pan
- Sanding Block – This is used to sand spackle and rough areas as needed.
- Spackle – This is used to fill dents and divots, such as nail holes.
- Caulking – This is used to fill cracks and seams.
- Tape – We recommend Frog Tape or blue painters tape. The tape is used to cover the trim, windows, and areas where you do not want paint.
