About Seattle painting company Sound Painting Solutions

Background

Jeff DuPont, owner/founder of Sound Painting SolutionsSound Painting Solutions, LLC is owned and operated by the husband-and-wife team of Jeff DuPont and Lindsey Mueller. Jeff is a third-generation painter with over ten years of painting experience in multiple realms. He began painting with his grandfather at a young age, and has been fully immersed in the painting trade since then. Jeff also successfully ran his father’s painting business in Eugene, Oregon, for four years. Lindsey is a 2016 Accounting graduate from the University of Washington Foster School of Business. Having grown up in Tucson, Arizona, Lindsey moved to Seattle in 2012 to pursue an education at UW and greater opportunities in a growing city.

In 2012, Jeff decided to pursue a new painting business in Seattle, and Sound Painting Solutions was born. Jeff and Lindsey shared a vision of creating a modern, quality and customer service driven painting company. We strive to execute this vision through every step of the customer process. We do this by providing prompt and attentive service, harnessing the latest technology to improve our processes, hiring only qualified employees, using premium-quality products, and performing thorough preparation and application techniques. Since our vision and goals aren’t possible without a great team of like-minded people, we also strive to foster an exceptional working environment for our growing team of employees.

Sound Painting Solutions, LLC is fully licensed, bonded, and insured in the state of Washington. We are also lead-safe certified by the EPA. We provide interior and exterior painting services for both residential and commercial properties in the Seattle area, Bellevue, and the East Side.

Frequently Asked Questions

We know that there are many variables that play into the decision of hiring a painting contractor. We hope that these answers to frequently asked questions will be helpful in your decision-making process. If we didn't answer your question here, please send us an email; we'd love to hear from you!

Generally, no. While we may be able to provide a very rough “ballpark” estimate, there are many different factors that influence our bids, and we are unable to provide a fixed price without seeing the job in person. No two jobs are alike, and other than the overall surface area, we also consider the condition of the surfaces, extent of prep work needed, desired colors, access to the work area, etc. For very small projects, we may be able to provide a quote based on photos.

If we are able to access the areas you would like painted without your presence, it is not completely necessary for you to be there. However, we much prefer that you are, so that we can ask you questions and get a thorough understanding of your needs. This allows us to create a proposal that encompasses exactly what you would like to have done!

Sound Painting Solutions is a company dedicated to the highest level of workmanship and customer service available in the industry, and as such, our prices tend to be on the higher side. We strive to provide our clients with a paint job that not only looks great, but will stand the test of time. We do this by using premium-quality products and thorough prep/application techniques. We have also made it our mission to provide constant, open lines of communication and friendly, attentive customer service. In addition, all of our painting staff are legal employees of our company and are covered by workers’ compensation insurance (you may check a contractor’s insurance status at lni.wa.gov). We value our employees and pay a fair wage along with benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, and retirement. We strongly believe that doing all of these things allows us to deliver the best possible customer experience, but it does come at a cost. And while there may always be variations in bids from different contractors, bids that are significantly low likely fall quite short of these standards. We highly recommend comparing quotes of similar companies that focus on the aspects you value most in order to make your hiring decision.

Painting companies can range greatly in terms of the quality of workmanship and customer service provided. When comparing estimates, the bottom line is not always the most important factor. Other things you might want to consider include:

  • Per state requirements, have you verified that the company is bonded, insured, and licensed to perform the work?
  • How much preparation will the contractor perform on the surfaces?
  • What kind of products will they use?
  • How long has the company been in business?
  • How will they compensate their employees?
  • What do past customers say about the company and their work?
  • Do they offer a warranty/guarantee on their work?
  • How has the customer service been thus far?

These key areas are most likely to influence the price of the bid. Considering these items will help you as the customer compare “apples to apples” when reviewing quotes. More information on what to look for in a painting contractor can be found at our blog.

Generally, no. Sound Painting Solutions offers fixed-price bids, therefore price increases only occur when you ask for us to perform additional work that is not covered in the original contract. Unforeseen circumstances do arise once in a while, such as damage to the surface(s) that was not apparent at the initial site visit, or the addition of bold colors that require additional coats/labor. In any case, we strive to keep you updated on the status of your job and you will be informed in the event that unforeseen circumstances arise. We also do not perform additional work not covered in the contract without your approval.
Our estimates cover all necessary materials and labor to complete the job to your specifications, unless explicitly stated otherwise. This includes all of the thorough preparation we perform on your surfaces for the best-looking and longest-lasting paint job possible. In addition, our estimates include a two-year warranty should your paint job fail within the warranty period.

Our proposals contain all of our contract terms so there are no surprises for you. When you decide you would like to work with us, you may simply e-sign the proposal within your customer portal. Upon receipt of your 10% deposit, we will coordinate scheduling the work with you.

At the beginning of the job, we will walk through the space with you in order to confirm the scope of work and discuss any important items.

During the job, we keep you in the loop on our progress and are always receptive to any questions or concerns you may have.

Finally, when our work is complete, we conduct a final walkthrough with you to confirm that the work was performed satisfactorily. If any touch-ups are needed, we remedy these areas as quickly as possible. This does not negate your two-year warranty, and we are happy to come back at any time during the warranty period as needed. After this inspection and any necessary touch-ups, we collect final payment.

We strive to provide the highest level of quality in our work. If you are not satisfied, our job is not truly complete. We are happy to return to the worksite to ensure we have provided the level of quality we strive for and promise. In the event of a problem that cannot be remedied, talk with us and we’ll see what we can do, whether it be a discount, refund, etc. For your peace of mind, Sound Painting Solutions offers a two-year warranty on all standard interior and exterior projects. Should any issues arise related to the workmanship of the job in the future, we promptly fix it – free of charge!

While most of our business is for residential customers, we also perform small to medium-sized commercial projects! This includes both interior and exterior commercial painting jobs. We’ve worked with many recognizable companies in the area, including Costco, REI, and more. Check out our Commercial Painting page for more information.

We recognize that trust is paramount in the process of hiring a contractor. Upon request, we are more than happy to provide references for painting projects similar to yours.

You may also find it helpful to browse photos and details of our past projects on our gallery (check “Services in the menu above), our blog, Houzz, Facebook, or Porch. We usually do not post testimonials here; we believe review sites do a much better job and speak for themselves! Over 150 reviews of our business can be found on Yelp, GoogleHouzz, Facebook, Porch and more. Sound Painting Solutions has also been recognized for “Best of Houzz” (2014-2018) and “People Love Us on Yelp” (2017-2018).

All painters on your job are screened and trusted employees of Sound Painting Solutions. To fulfill our mission of providing consistently high-quality workmanship, we will not subcontract any outside firms to complete your painting project.

We do not have an in-house color consultant at this time. However, we are happy to provide references for trusted design professionals in the Seattle area who may be of assistance with color selection and other design projects.
We accept cash and checks, as well as all major credit cards. There is a 2% fee applied to any credit card payments. We also offer a safe, secure, and free ACH payment method via Intuit Payments.
