Deck Staining and Restoration

Deck stained by Sound Painting Solutions

Decks are a summer staple, with the promise of the season bringing backyard barbecues and outdoor gatherings. As summer approaches, you may be considering refinishing your deck. Decks are an area of your home requiring extra care, as they are subject to heavy traffic, harsh weather, and moisture. A quality stain provides your deck with an extra layer of protection against the elements. If possible, you should stain your deck at least once a year as normal maintenance. This kind of maintenance is especially important in a rainy area like Seattle.

Whether your deck could use another stain coating, has recently been built, or is in need of a full restoration, hiring a qualified stain contractor will ensure that the job is completed to industry standards.  A professional will also ensure that the surface of the deck is cleaned and prepared adequately prior to application of the stain.

Sound Painting Solutions, LLC is a Benjamin Moore certified stain contractor, specifically trained in the application of Benjamin Moore Arborcoat® products. We can help you evaluate the condition of your deck and select the most appropriate products for your project.

  1. Hello,

A company we hired to address some moss on our roof caused some additional property damage to our stained wood deck and patio. Can we get a quote to see how much it would cost to get the wood finish looking all one color again?

    Thank you!

Hi Laura, thank you for your comment. What kind of damage was caused? Depending on the extent of discoloration that may be present, for example, even with prepping and a new coat of stain, this may be visible under a new coat of semi-transparent stain. For the most uniform finish possible, we typically recommend a solid stain. There’s a bit more information here at a newer blog we wrote.
If you would like us to take a look, please email us some images and a bit of background information to [email protected].

  2. Our back deck, 16′ x 11′, needs staining. I need it done before September.
    Thank you, Susan
