There are thousands of articles announcing the 2021 exterior color trends on the internet. SPS even featured some of those color trends in our recent blog post, and one of those colors will be featured below! Many of these articles and blog posts give you one color meant for the majority of your home. But what color do you paint the trim, pillars, shutters, and the front door of your home? We used the five most recommended exterior colors and paired them with one or two unique colors, especially for your home’s front door. 1. Pale or Light Gray & Navy Blue

Gray and navy is a classic combination that brings together two neutral exterior paint colors. We found both colors on numerous trend lists, which means they are in style! These colors can be used interchangeably on your home’s exterior. However, we highly recommend painting the majority of your home gray and then adding navy to accents. The navy will add depth to your home’s prominent features.

2. Dark Gray & Earthy Green or White

For its 2021 Color of the Year, Sherwin-Williams found a color that would bring comfort and tranquility to one’s life, with the bonus of sophistication. Urbane Bronze is the perfect blend of brown and gray, which makes the color combinations endless. Depending on the amount of greenery surrounding your home, we suggest pairing Urbane Bronze with a simple white or rich green. These recommended accents are great for a home in the PNW!

3. Navy Blue & Red or White

We’re bringing back the navy for another color combination! However, we suggest painting the majority of your home navy with different colored accents with this combination. We recommend pairing navy with a deep red or creamy white. This patriotic color palette is in style throughout history, making it a classic go-to for new homeowners looking to spruce up their home!

4. Green & Stained Wood

There are many shades and tints of green to choose from, making this color combination perfect for any taste and setting. We suggest pairing your green with stained wood accents as they act to complement any green you choose for your home’s exterior. As a bonus, this color combination can work the opposite way by being a great way to freshen up and draw attention to the unique wood accents of your home, especially the front door. Green and stained wood add a unique spin to traditional and modern home designs.

5. Warm White or Beige & Burnt Orange

Our last combination is more common in sunny and temperate areas, but we believe it’s the perfect way to bring warmth to the PNW. Warm white or beiges are trendy for those looking for a clean and neutral home exterior. We suggest pairing these warmer tones with burnt orange accents. The unique pairing will make your home stand out from the rest. We love this color combination because it is a rare spin on a traditional color palette.

If you choose to use any of these color combinations, we are sure you will receive compliments from your family, friends, and neighbors. Choosing a unique color combination for your home is the best way to make it feel like yours. If you take any of our recommendations, we would love to see before and after photos of your home!
